A-America

A-America has been building solid wood furniture since 1973, when brothers Fred and John Rohrbach — University of Montana graduates, Forest Service smokejumpers, and Vietnam veterans — started the company. In 1975 they became one of the first to bring American hardwoods into overseas production, using antique American pieces as their design reference. The arrowback chair that helped launch the line came from a find in an Idaho antique store.

Fifty years on, the family-owned company is still headquartered in the Seattle area, and the approach hasn't changed: real solid wood, built to American quality standards, priced so a family can actually furnish a room. The range covers hickory, oak, mahogany, cherry, birch, pine, maple, ash, and alder — an unusually wide species selection at this price point — across casual and formal dining, bedroom, and complete collections.
